Product Designer

Our Product Designer will be accountable for producing roof truss plans, layouts, truss design drawings, and truss quotes. Duties include, but are not limited to, determining design specifications based on blueprints, structural designs needs, and client requests, communicating with sales and production staff, and designing plans that equally balance effectiveness and minimal waste.


Main duties:

  • Produce roof truss plans, layouts, truss design drawings, and truss quotes using your ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements for specific projects;

  • Determine design specification based on blueprints and structural design needs;

  • Communicate with sales staff and customers on any technical aspects of plans which require clarification;

  • Consult with more experienced colleagues and management when more in-depth analysis is required;

  • Consistently deliver high quality, cost effective designs to both our internal and external customers by leading and directing efforts to value engineering roof and floor systems;

  • Optimizing designs for the greatest effectiveness and ensuring minimal waste;

  • Review project design and drive accurate releases to production and logistics.


Employment requirements:

  • Completion of a diploma program in construction design or equivalent

  • Expert blueprint reading skills (architecture, structural and mechanical);

  • Experience and knowledge of construction process

  • Ability to provide technical direction for the development of placement plans and quality control procedures

  • Superior knowledge of design computer software (Mitek, Alpine, AutoCAD)

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel;

  • Ability to set realistic objectives;

  • Ability to learn, adopt, and apply new technologies, practices and solutions in an effective manner;

  • Ability to acquire and retain knowledge and understanding through study, instruction, and/or experience;

  • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal and leadership skills;

  • Strong problem solving skills to resolve incomplete, ambiguous project requirements, errors or omissions within blueprints;

  • Experience with growing companies supporting builders, construction, or multi-site manufacturing organizations would be an asset.


Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
